RYA PW Personal Watercraft Proficiency

One day course covering all aspects to safely operate a Personal Watercraft

ABOUT THE COURSE

€399 including inc Jet Ski rental & Fuel

1 Day 10.00 till 17.00

Ratio: Max 2 Per Ski

Difficulty: Beginners

Learn and gain an RYA PWP certificate and license showing that you have all the basic skills to own jet ski. You must have a license and the RYA PW Proficiency covers this and also will enable you to gain the International Cert of Competence.

Personal Watercraft (PWC’s) or Jet Skis, as they are commonly known, are versatile, fun and exhilarating and the course is a great day out too

Course includes use of a Jet Ski which is based in Port Forum. Fuel, certificate and handbooks are all included.

This course is also a pre requirement for the RYA PW Instructor course required by new on Super Yachts

Low numbers to ensure you get plenty of time on the helm.

Safety equipment onboard
Departure checks and basic care
Weather and tides
Charts, navigation and understanding your local area
Berthing in marinas, mooring on buoys and close quarter handling
High speed manoeuvres and handling skills
Person over board recovery and capsize recovery
Planning a trip and using electronic navigation
Collision regulations
Towing

How long is the licence valid?

Your licence will be registered with the RYA so there is always a record, there is no revalidation required.

Can I hire a jet ski using the licence?

Yes, but in Europe you are best getting the International Certificate of Competence (ICC), this is just a paperwork exercise with your proficiency licence and an additional £52 fee.

Passport Photo for the certificate
Lunch money or packed lunch, there are plenty of local places to get a bite
Swimming costume or a wetsuit if you have one
Sunglasses with retainers can be useful against spray
Sun block on those sunny days

Something different to do in Barcelona, away from all the crowds and the heat of the sun.

My daughter and I have just concluded our 2 day RYA Powerboat level 2 course with Barcelona Watersports. We had Faith as our instructor. Was a Fab experience,... read more she is obviously very skilled and knowledgable and was able to share of her wisdom in a fun and enlightening way. The RIB was great as well, with a Powerful 300 hp engine. Was windy and choppy, but that made the experience that much more realistic. Top marks all around. Great blend of theory and practice. Would 100% recommend. In fact, will try to encourage my wife and son to do the course as well!
